a short wedding clip

thats awesome, man!!! that wedding was beautiful dude and i love what youve done with it. i think youve posted them before but what were your settings?

also, i know you used an adapter for some parts of it, you didnt use one on this footage, right? also, what settings did you use to export h.264? I'm having the hardest time...

I wish someone would post a tutorial on proper h.264 compressing depending on length and size, prior file type... etc. i export .avi because i dont have a mac (thus, no FCP) so it's hard for me (for some reason) to use QT Pro! ;(

lol, a winking frown. weird.

Thanks Kyle!

For this wedding I had no adapter...just 100a, UV filter, Tripod...bare bones.

settings, can't remember because I shot this in June and they change so much, but it looks like my MASTER PED was somewhere around -10. which was a bad idea for the sunset scenes because they're so dark!

also, it's not H.264 - i used the Sorensen 3 codec that comes with Vegas. whatever the stock settings are. I don't have a mac either my man...but i want one bad!

here's a little intro segment I made for a couple.

I asked them what TV shows they like and the groom goes "uhh..i don't know...friends?"

I wanted to be creative and find a fun, catchy way to open their video.

I didn't really CC at all, so some shots may be a little dark. sorry!

right click, download pls! only 9 megs

The quality is AWESOME! Great job to. I wish you could remember your settings.. I have used betacamSP all my life just about, and now getting a 100b in tomorrow, can't wait. What to you use to edit? ...Jim

Ummm... not to rain on the parade of this thread, but, in my opinion, that video would get REALLY old after watching it a few times. I do wedding video's also, and one thing I concentrate on is trying to make them timeless. Most of the time, I try to stick to music that doesn't even have lyrics (symphony, piano, etc) just because I know that in a few years, the music will still fit the mood of the video, and not be "dated".

Just wanted to throw that out there. Not that there's anything wrong with this video, I would've gone a different route... that's all.

Shots look good, though.

my parade has been rained on!!! nooo!

haha, jk man, I can see what you are talking about...

It will get old, but so will the bride and groom, and it's not meant to be a timeless beautiful piece. just hokey-pokey fun. to be honest, I think when I see wedding vids that use symphonies and pianos, they are already dated in my eyes.

:(

yeah... i see what you mean, for sure, but the wealthy people I cater to love the sappy music and what I do with it.

Ya know, it all come's down to the bride and groom. If they're cool and want something fun, great. If they're the "conservative" type, give the symphony and make 'em cry ;)

peace.

totally agree!

actually, i'm not done editing their video, and I'm for sure going to use some sappy music pretty soon...i mean what's a wedding without some sort of tear-jerking moment right?

Exactly. Even when I do a "fun" wedding, I still throw in at least one small montage of the emotional moments.

It works out best when a couple orders a more premium package from me, cause then I do one music montage to the ceremony, and one for the reception.

Ceremony = piano/symphony music; Reception = upbeat/fun music.

Agree. Sappy moments are a must in wedding videos. These romantic songs will become oldies when the couple are showing the video to their grandkids, and the music will still be cool, but not neccessarily the rock songs etc.

Er, TJ, did you get copyright permission to use that music? Did you post the clip on the web? What will you do when the lawyers come a callin'?
