A Short Science Fiction Film - The Dream of the Butterfly

Hi,

i would like to know which mic, adapter or audio interface you are using to record dialogs on your films..

I don't know the exact specs, i'd have to ask the sound guys. On my other films with smaller crews, i use my senheiser K6 that we plugin directly to the camera (up to now, an hvx, but have since got a Tascam DR-100 for filming with the 7D), this works reasonably well. But for this specific film, we went double system (I believe they used a DAT portable recorder). I wanted to up the production value, so we made sure the sound was as professional as the image. Also, a lot of little sound effects were later added during the sound design, courtesy of my wonderful sound designer and his wonderful synthesizers (he also recorded a lot of extra sounds, then mixed them all together - so in the end product, there's very little left of the live recording).
Hope this helps, sorry i can't be more specific concerning the gear :(

So, so, so good. I didn't have any problems at all with the character development or the story. Bizarre that some people did.

If you ever get the chance, though, to reshoot the ending, it most definately should have been him killing the girl, right? I mean, if this dude was just programmed, the best way to prove his programming would be to have him murder the girl who he used to love. THAT would have capped off the "story" aspect of the piece, for me. It would have made all the silence worthwhile, to have the moment when she's like, "Where have you been?" etc, and he blows her away.

That's totally on the story side, though.

I loved, loved, loved the photography. Great job

Just thought I'd let you know that we've decided to change the ending thanks to your comments. I'll post the new version soon...

Can't wait to see it!

I already think it's amazing. A little tweaking to make the final moments clearer can only help the overall piece. Great things.
