"A Rainy Smoke" is a 2-minute short film written by C.J. about the process of smoking a cigarette in the rain.

Shot on a Nikon D90 with a Vivitar Macro Lens, and a Zoom H4n.

I did all of the cinematography and primary editing. I would also like to note every shot's depth of field was specifically chosen.

Let me know your thoughts!

Handheld macro shots are hard to keep steady but here the shakiness made me feel the anxiety a smoker might be experiencing at the time. Very nice.

Thanks guys, yeah I purposely shot handheld to invoke the feeling of a cold, anxious smoker in the rain. It was definitely a challenge shooting with a plastic bag over the D90!

haha the old "trashbag" rain cover. Ive been shooting for over 8 years with trashbags...cheap and easy.

It does give a decent sense of anxiety...and a feeling of being rushed (from the perspective of someone rushing a cig since its raining out)

The framing is good since it highlights the action being shown, and places the viewer in a rather claustrophobic space.

My only advice is a possible recolor...the colors could use a tiny bit of work in my opinion
