A quick question about sound.

+1 to what the Great Santucci said.

The CX231 I had mounted perfectly to the 7D and 5DII. With the 70-200 f2.8L lens, I would recommend doing something a bit different…

Use the BG-E6 Battery Grip on the 5DII. It allows you to replace the camera batteries without having to remove the JL box, and with 2 batteries in the grip, you'll get nice long shooting times between battery changes. Also, with the 70-200 lens you'll want to use the tripod ring to mount it on your tripod. This takes the weight off of the lens mount and puts it on the tripod ring, making for a much more stable and safe shooting setup.

The 5DII camera battery can easily be replaced without removing the the JuicedLink CX231 when using the 70-200 2.8L II with its tripod ring.

You might want to use a quick release base attached to the Juicedlink so everything is modular and easily detached with little hassle. I've done that with my Juiced link. It's much more of a pleasure to work with.

I've got a couple of ideas that might help :)

First one is, if you're using a tripod and a recorder with a 1/4" mount like the Zoom H4, I've had success in attaching it to a small gorillapod and mounting that to the tripod.

Also, I've done the same thing with a Nikon flash bar. Same principle as the gorillapod and works off the tripod just as easy as on.

I actually made a simple mount that allows me to put the Juiced Link on the hotshoe, the I use the screw on the top to affix a Mic holder if I want to shoot solo. It allows me to quickly remove it and is much easier to adjust the knobs and change the battery on the camera.

When I have a boom op, I use a 25ft 3.5 stereo cord from the camera's mic-in to the Juiced Link and let the boom op strap the Juiced Link around his neck, so he's able to monotor and adjust the sound. Add a 25ft headphone cable and Boosteroo and now he can listen in too.

It makes sense to me to keep the audio control with the boom op, not on the camera. But with the hotshoe rig I can easily attach it back to the camera for solo shoots.
