A quest for a spinner...

Hey guys.

Ive decided that in my spare time, ill be working on a spinning 35mm adapter for my A1 and my HV30.

Ive got the basic idea down. I'll be trying to make it as compact as possible (a bit more compact than the SG Blade) AND ill try to have it with built-in image flipping capibilities.

yup, its a tall order, but i think it will be a good thing to keep my hands busy while i wait for my movies to finish exporting!

Wish me luck! And ill post my findings! :D

Luck is no needed, only ca$h for parts.
Most important thing will be your GG,you would have to do it yourself from transparent glass or plastic or find material good enough to diffuse.

I covered that, the problem is, ive been trying to work out how im going to get it really to "Spin" with out using a old cd player rig and making it way bigger than it has to be :D

I tried to put the GG inside a bearing assembly, perhaps from an inline skate since it would be narrow and small enough to go in a tube. the problem is how to spin it, that i haven't figured it out yet. The bearing would have to be encased but I wonder about any oil leaking out.

Just imagine how fast the glass would spin inside a really smooth bearing assembly!?!

Hi, i am about to make spinner too. When you say "i covered that" meaning the problem with the GG, can you please explain what are you using as GG?
I was thinking etching the glass for 15 min and then a thin layer of vaseline over it will make a good GG. What is your solution?

Thanks

Hi, i think this design will make you some troubles. You will have a "hot spot" in the center of the GG. so, it's better to avoid this design. But if you want to make it anyway, there is solution. just use some micro motor with the rubber ring on the shaft. But i suggest that you avoid this design.

Hunter, one more thing... in order to flip the image, you will need prisms which are very expensive (VERY expensive) so, it's better you buy one cheap external monitor with flipping option, and after shooting, you flip your image in Post production. There is also possibility that you can hack camera's own monitor with a strong magnet... try... it works with some cameras.

Cheers
