Hey -- I've been sitting on this for a few weeks... I was looking for a way to stylize this just the right way.

I have yet to show much of the footage I shot to Linda yet, nor have I showed her this.

Any thoughts? I'm kind of hitting editor's block on it.

nice piece :)

one thing that for me IMHO did not feel right was the type of monologue the boy was reading. One good rule I go by is don't have your characters say anything they normally wouldn't say, it will sound too artificial. I like the idea of the boy's voice guiding you through the story I just found it like too ackward the sentences he composed which you normally don't hear. So maybe there is another way of saying it that is more appropriate for his age? just a suggestions.

I really liked this piece. I found the narration to be creative and whimsical. Kind of like the child was an "old soul" so to speak. Wisdom to come and all that. But, I am also a bit biased, I have footage of my son being born and I find it to be some of the most beautiful footage I've ever seen and I'm sure no one else outside the family would think that. LOL. Anyway, Way to Go!!

Thanks -- yeah - I've had two other comments about the voice.

First, remember this is for Mom.

Second... it's Nathan, our #2.

It was suggested to do some type effects to highlight the narration, but I though the 'family' kind of understands the "Nathanspeak" and it might not be necessary.

I really was trying to see if there was something else I could do with the footage. I tried recreating a glassy displacement type thing (copying CSI-Miami titles) but that didn't look so good. Messed with some film effects and that kind of gave it an overall warmth.

I'm fixing the titles so they have an bevel alpha to give them some depth and I'm also fixing that one music cue that drops right before the last string section.

Aye Captain! Hey that was great. I wish my pops filmed me when I entered this crazy world. I would love to see how fat I really was. Anyhow the black fade in the begining seemed a bit too long. I thought my computer locked up or something. As far as the audio, I couldn't pick out what he was saying. If this is for your wife I think she would like it.

Yeah -- the fade is a bit long... I didn't want to admit that though everytime I watch it I think the same thing.
