Working on a little video fro the grandparents in Memphis to login and see my son learning to ride a bike. This particular grab caugt my attention in that it really isnt anything happening but has a weight to it; it wants to tell a story.

There's be a ton of shots like this if he would sit still for 2 seconds.

Nice grab.

I'm a sucker for kids on film. (especially cute ones like ours, John!!)

But the second one looks great!! First one is nice subject but that purple/blue hue on the bike looks like VHS fade.

Too much grading for my taste, but the bike shot certainly has a nice temporality to it. Makes us wonder what happened before... There is an inherent tension about photographs of things that move - bikes, cars, etc... semioptics! - how about that, huh? ;)

I would add that both grabs want to tell a story. In fact, those two together got my mind rolling with lots of scenerios. It's amazing how creative the mind can be with only a few static images.

Thanks for taking a look guys. I had a whole video to post and cant access my FTP
for some reason.

Damn it.

Here's a grab for you "Should I get a Mattebox w/ ND Grad" types

i love that contrast and saturation. It gives a nice surrealistic hue to it all. I keep meaning to get a grad filter for my mattbox but I just keep pushing it back for other things. I could have used one in the godfather skit I did to complete my 3 skits for some corporate video thing.

The shot doesn't look that blown out or too dark. So you did a good job balancing without the need of a grad.

I did use the Grad! And a Polorizer.
Ah - sorry - read that as you wanted to get a grad. Just figured you pulled out some amazing skills and captured without one :)

nice john. it reminds me of an X-games type look. sort of super8 but with more punch and less grain.

hope hes doing ok with the bike lessons.
