I've created a new kind of slider that would be the most portable and cheapest option available out there. I can't go into too much details here but I wanted to get some questions answered before I started to put any extra resources into it. Some questions.
There is going to be two types available. A full kit that's going to be the most expensive where there's no assembly required and another, where it's basically half the kit and you would have to buy additional parts on your own, or through me. Which would you be most willing to go for? Would you be more interested in the full kit, or just half if you could get all the extra accessories yourself?
How much would you pay? I'm projecting a cost of $70 for the full kit and $40-50 half the kit. I know you can't determine price without performance, but given how much the other sliders cost, would this be reasonable?
If you find this relatively is easy to make, would you still be interested in buying or making it yourself? I know there's a lot of diyer's out there, but even so, what if I took all that diy work out of the equation?
If I told you the slider's track would be available in lengths of 2ft, 4ft, 6ft, 8ft, 12ft, 16ft, at the same price, would that get you excited?
So this is the information for now, but I'll have some video and more product updates later. I'm pretty excited as this will be for the budget minded filmmakers. If I can't make it for these costs, I'll scrap the whole project and just make the plans open for everyone.
This is a 100% complete original design that I'm thinking of patenting, but dunno if it's worth the cost. I know I called it a slider, but it's really not. It's a simple solution to an easy problem for using a camera to get dolly/slider like movements at a low low cost.
