The raw materials is 7075 aluminum comes from Switzerland, and did hard anodizing for surface treatment.

Allstar Base is not only a high-quality Arri-style base, but also a specially design for Hand-held, especially on Epic and Scarlet. Because of the double dovetails design on Allstar Base, you won`t need to mount shoulder pad with the whole base, just use a 8mm high plate. So the optical axis of lense will be under your eyes, and save weight, which ARRI style Hand-held rigs can`t do it.
The basis of the render picture(released from RED.COM), you can see their new base "RED RISER" will higher than standard ARRI Base.
So if your Hand-held rigs was mounted by the base, you`ll get more 1.5cm or thereabouts heigh. The height will let you feel unstable easily. With Allstar Base there will be a 8mm high plate mounting under the camera. Even mount the shoulder pad under the modules if the space is enough.
