SHORT: "A New Beginning" The 2012 MegaSpeed Custom Car and Truck Show

I've only been shooting for a year and a half, and I've only been doing paid work for a year. This video is definitely my best work to date, the editing process was LONG!! Mostly due to the slow ass machine I had, recently upgraded the PC though and now I have a beast of a machine. I had so much shooting this video, MegaSpeed is an amazing car culture event that takes place every year in Toronto, Ontario. The best cars, trucks, and bikes from all over Canada attend this event to go head to head for cash prizes and highly respected awards.

Check out my video and let me know your thoughts, I shot this with the Sony A77 SLT using 50mm f 1.4, 16-50mm 2.8, Glidetrack, etc. This was also my first real time working with After Effects, I think I did a pretty good job.

Would love to get some feedback, constructive criticism is always welcome.

It's not bad...so that been said...it's not bad (which means it's good :-p)

Few things:

- watch out with cool VFX on the beat of music which you've been working on days and nights and had to leave the dishes so that now you have dishes of 7 weeks now and are eating out of plastic cubs.
"Kill your darlings"... Sometimes I had a feeling that you were proud being able to do that "zooming" effect, rather then you thought about "is it usefull, or isn't it to much" ?

- Maybe make it shorter... 2minutes is long sometimes...Sometimes it's to short, and sometimes it's to long... For boiling eggs, it's just enough...

I appreciate your feedback, I didn't quite get the comment about the dishes lol, I would have liked to use something different than the zoom in at times, but I was limited, and crunched for time. What would you have done?

by limited I mean that I didn't have access to a multitude of effects that would have fit the vibe of the production, I had to go with what I know, and I was trying to anticipate what the audience would want.

With limited you mean "not having enough shots" ?

aah ok... No, it's not that it's bad.... The effects are nice.

It's more that it's not easy for someone to "just delete" something which he/she has spent lots of time on... Because it doesn't fit.

So my point is that here the effects are nice, but watch out not to put effects, just because you're proud of it... Sometimes you have to dare "Kill your darlings". Not necessarily in this one... But it's something to think about.

That's why it's sometimes good (for larger projects, films...) to have an editor who can say: this doesn't fit, or this is better to be done like this or that...

But I'm mixing different things now....
