A Music Video to view

good job.

to be more specific and critical, i though it couldve used a little more closeups, and the song was pretty repetative but theres not much you can do can do about that. I woudve liked to see some more variance between locations.. it seemed like you stepped over 5 feet and shot another dierction and used it as "another" location in the sometimes. and im not quite sure what to think ofthe green and brown dress thing.. uh,, dont tell her i said that though.. i dont want to hurt her feelings.. anyway keep up the good work. has this been color corrected yet?

anyway back to my overall impression.. good job. love to see some more work.

It started out good, and overall there are some good shots, but honestly gets kind of boring soon.

My suggestion for the next one would be to make more of a story, even if there's not much of one in the words ... have some kind of progression in the shots. It got old fast seeing her sitting in so many different locations/positions, and the nature shots even got old after a while.

If she's being lifted up, as the word say, then perhaps have her in a darker place at first ... a depressive home atmosphere, a dark & religiously forboding church sanctuary, etc. ... then as the song progresses have her breaking out into the sunlight, the beautiful nature shots, get her to a moving body of water, etc. Keep it progressing in a direction, give it some story visually, and keep it interesting.

On another tech note, there appeared to be a couple of sections where the video was SLIGHTLY off from the audio, but not too badly.

That said, good job on your first & with no budget. I've seen some really bad ones before, and yours isn't in that catagory. Just a lot of room for improvement, IMHO, to make it more visually interesting.

Yo Yoke,

I agree with loser. Overall a good video. The Pocahontas dress needs to find its way to value village. Onto your work... My favorite shot was in the field with the background singer giving the much needed depth value. The opening and ending shots were creative. It would have been even nicer to have the singer tied into the same shot. I really dislike all the zooming. I never use the zoom unless I have to. Try going handheld. Some of the dolly shots are nice. It would have been nice to utilize the natural light with a reflector or even an emergency blanket or aluminum foil wrapped over some cardboard. I did notice some use of extra light in one or two scenes, but why not all the shady scenes? A cheap way to backlight her hair is a 1 million candle power car spotlight. You had some outdoor shots with a distant background. Next time try to utilize the DOF the camera has by opening the iris all the way and zooming in all the way about 20 feet back from her. This will give you a nice tight close-up and as long as the back ground is 50-100 feet or more away it will be out of focus.

Overall good job, but next time if you do some of the things mentioned I think it could look much better.

Good job

Most probably one of the cheezyiest music video i ve seen ever. A fix shot(for 2 second!),...and then a zoom in (in the same shot)?...should really cut that IMO. You framed well though,... and if the song could be less crappy you might have done good i guess. Keep it up.

Good luck

Good job overall. Shots all look pretty good. Critiques you ask? Tighten it up. Guaranteed you had it, and maybe you didn't oversee the editing process (because it looks like some adjustments you were making during shooting made it in and shouldn't have). The zooming, especially sitting on a static shot and then moving in or out. That bothered me. Should have been cut out in my opinion...or take the zoom and forget the static part before or after it. Second, camera movement on the dolly bothered me. When you're dollying to the side, the camera jumps a few times. Again, I think this could and should have been cut out. Lastly I think you could have added some lighting. Of course, I don't know what kind of constraints you were under, but if you added some light on the subject, especially in the shadow areas, she would have popped and looked a lot better. Definitely a good job though..... I thought it was a little boring too, but the song kinda lent itself to that slow pace:)......and it picks up a little at the end. Nice job.
