FS7: A mt to E mt lenses - iris steppy?

I'm wondering whether a Sigma 18-35 mm in a Sony A mt with an A>E(NEX) mt adapter to my FS7 will have the same steppy iris that I would have with an EF version ?
Native E mt lenses still have digital steps in the iris changes but there so many per stop(100?) that it looks almost smooth. Would this also happen with an A Mt lens?

oh thanks, that's useful info since I am concerned about the direction. If the A mt works the only advantage would be that you could control it from the arm and you could see the f stop readout. Which Nikon adapter(s) are you using and prefer?

I have a metabones adapter. I personally prefer manual iris on the lens rather than a steppy dial. I guess if you need to know exact fstops the adapter marks aren't exact to a particular Fstop.

After using Nikon lenses on the F3 for a few years now I'm a bit torn about how to proceed one big issue being that I would like image stabilization which only comes through an EF adapter. On my Nikon to NEX metabones adapters (speed booster and normal) the iris on the adapter wouldn't open fully until I opened the iris on the lens all the way, which in turn meant I couldn't close the iris any more- since the lens iris is the max the adapter can close it. Thus you couldn't ride iris pif you wanted to sometimes be open all the way. This bugged me. Do you find the same problem. I was wondering about other Nikon to NEX. Another way is to go Nikon to EF and then metabones EF > NEX . More chances for back focus to be off though and also you need to be careful about shorting the adapters electrical connections. ( I put black paper tape on the inside of the nikon >EF adapter where it would touch the contacts. (was that clear?)

At any rate I would like to try or At least hear about the A mt> NEX route before deciding.
