GH4 A Moire Test Comparing My GH3 and GH4 Cameras

I finally got around to doing a moire test with my GH4, as I wanted to see how much things had improved over the GH3. ( my whole reason for buying the GH4 was to get rid of moire )

From testing I can clearly see why the GH4 is almost double the price of the GH3, the image is just so much better, especially when you down-scale 4K to 1080 HD.

Be sure to check this out on a 1080 HD monitor (or larger) because you won't really see what's going on if you use a lower res monitor.

Heck, you can just shoot the GH4 vs. the GH4, 4K/UHD vs. 1080. I'm just checking over plain-as-heck corp talking head footage from this morning, the guy has a very nice SOLID COLOR shirt on, and it's electric with moire from the GH4 in 1080 AVCHD.

AF100 2nd cam footage is fine, though.

This is one reason why I think I'm only going to shoot 4K from this point on, and why I plan to ditch my GH3 at some point.

GH4 fullhd processing is very similar to GH3 fullhd. Resolution and moire patterns are very similar. That is a little disappointment. Still GH4 codec is better so when there is lots of sharp movement IQ is better.

Sony's AX100 compact ENG camera does a great job of down sampling 4K to HD, it's too bad the GH4 can't pull this off. ( I am wondering if this is a DSLR issue of not enough processing power from the onboard CPU )

It must be power issue. GH4 fullhd is optimized for 60P and it cant read the whole sensor at that speed so something must do to fool. GH4 skips something to get 60fps readout. 96fps is much worse so it skips something more. 4k is 1:1 sensor pixels so it needs less processing power. Gh4 still can not do 4k 60p even at 1:1 because sensor cannot give data that fast.
