A Midnight Snack

that was sick. would you mind sharing on how you built everything? how long did it take? i've always wanted to try stop motion.

It took about 4 days to build the sets and the puppet. We tried to keep everything as simple as possible. We build most of the sets out of just simple craft supplies, like boxes, construction paper and paint. The puppet, Olga made from Fimo. She made a stiff wire frame armature, a little too stiff maybe, so that we could move the puppet and have him stay where we wanted him. It was a lot of trouble shooting, usually there are magnets on the feet of the puppet to keep him is the right spots, but we just balanced him to the best of our abilities. The post production took about 3 days I'd say. We build all the exterior stuff using some photos we took and a little bit of After Effects magic.

In a few days I'll post the making of vid for "A Midnight Snack". I shot most of the process using timelaps. It will help you see how much work such a simple little story can actually be.

I'm glad you liked it Zack, if you have any questions when you do your stop-mo film I would be happy to give you a couple pointers here and there.

Cheers
Greg

I can realize how long that took to make, but it seemed to be worth it!

Thanks dude. Ya, my girlfriend just loves doing this kind of thing. It makes it lots of fun to be able to make films with her.

Excellent! I would love to see a longer one! My wife was standing beside me when I watched this and see loved it too.

Awesome! I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting this kind of response. This is fantastic and so inspiring. Seeing the final product and being proud of it is one thing that makes it all worth the time, but knowing that so many people have enjoyed watching our fun little film gives me the greatest feeling of accomplishment. Thanks everyone!
