Hi Folks - First post, thought you may like to hear that - after becoming a little concerned at the negative vibes that are doing the rounds, I decided to email JVC my concerns, and that my company was on the verge of cancelling our order and looking elsewhere. While in a meeting the next day Mr Ian Scott, Director of JVC UK called me on my mobile to discuss my email, I asked him to call back in 30 minutes when I would have time to talk with him, he did so, dead on 30 mins. This is the jist of what he had to say.
In the UK - we will see another limited delivery around 22nd August, the next batch will be mid September. He agreed that JVC should have done better in regard to giving information on the JVC website. He told me that he had spoken with a number of pro users that were delighted with the product (we did have a laugh when I asked for details on exactly who they were.. ) However, he did mention that the BBC had been playing with one and although yet to make any statement, talked about possibly replacing their DSR500s with the HD101.
Regarding dead pixels, he knew nothing and said that if these were bonified reports, then the owners should be contacting JVC (perhaps they already have?) however - he said that the HD101 (100) does have the ability to self repair. Mr Scott went on to agree that JVC knows the "video world" is watching them, and they know they cannot afford to get this wrong... and on that basis he as Director of JVC UK is confident in this product.
We talked for some time, and I was impressed that he took the time to call me... having told them in my email to them, that I did not want some patronising marketing blurb of a reply in regard to my concerns.
That folks is a quick senario... as he said - once you have the camera in your hands and you put it to work, that will be the decider - if it does not do what it says on the box they will refund us and we buy something else.
Hope this may help some folks....
