Yes. I will be @ Tribeca. (switching gears from LMTF to Cold Calls) Since there are just 5 of us in the Delta Airlines competition, since Delta's underwriting, and since there's a 4 out of 5 chance that your short won't even screen at the festival, they fly us all out for an event on the 26th where they announce the winner of the Delta contest and I dunno, I suppose throw radishes or something at the other four of us. Then whoever wins that screens again on the 26th, 29th, 2nd & 3rd. They put us up for two days. So I'll be at some hotel for 2 days, then Timur's floor for 6 Arabian Nights.
You picked very good parts for trailer and they look so filmic ,i would never said that you used adapter ,i thought it was film.Acting and movement look so good, lights ,shadows...but im sure that you know that already.Amazing work
Kyle the Michael Keaton film is Merry Gentlemen and it's pretty good. I would def. check it out when it comes out in theaters or DVD. It has a bit of a No Country for Old Men ending though. Which I always have mixed feelings about, but I loved it up until then. I think Mark Harris will love everything about this movie.
bwwd, thanks again, Macgregor was our DP and he's amazing. Look for SIMILO on youtube which he shot and directed with his partner Zach. That's a static 35mm adapter and a DVX and it's amazing looking.
So Announcment. The trailers for LMTF and COLD calls + one "mystery film" of mine will be shown on local Austin TV tonight where I will also be interviewed.
You can see the show simulcast on the internet at: http://www.myspace.com/infynithour
Click the playbutton on their myspace page just after 10 Cental and you will see the show.
Not sure how I missed all this but thanks for catching me up by email. I have a bunch of people here in Wilmington who really want to see all of your shorts. What is the chance you and I can work something out to do an entire night of JDS short films here?
If you want to know how we did sound on this or Cold Calls basically I suppose you can get this:
It's made by the producers of LMTF, Unawakeing & Cold Calls and describes the techniques we used. For Cold Calls I'm pretty sure the mic was the oktava mko12. http://oktava.com/oktava
Because Barry Green recorded sound. Not sure on LMTF we had a pro.
As for BTS specific to LMTF there is a DVD for LMTF similar to the Sound DVD above in the works I think, which specifically involves working with the DP Macgregor on LMTF among many other things concerning lighting for HD.
Yep, 99% of LMTF was recorded using a single overhead hypercardioid mic (Oktava MK012) on a boom, complying with what we teach on the Sound For Film & Television disc.
I thought you would all be tickled to hear this...I went to Cape Fear Independent Film Festival this weekend to speak on the actors panel. There were a lot of filmmakers who had gone last year and seen ALMTF win Best Horror short and they still remember it and kept coming up to me and complimenting me about the film.
Even better...a few people kept saying CFIFF was now the 'good luck festival' and I asked what they meant. They were all saying because of what happened to ALMTF after it won!
So...because ALMTF won CFIFF Best Horror and went on to screen at other festivals...now they think if they win, they will get the same kind of good luck. I thought that was so cool and wanted to share that info!
Jack just told me ALMTF is playing at Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville!!
Not sure if he posted it somewhere else on here and I missed it, so I wanted to fill some of you in if he has been too busy. But I have been away from the boards for a long while and I might have simply missed him posting it.
