A Little help understanding Tapes

A Little help understanding Tapes...??

Has anyone heard this to be true....

Generally speaking, Panasonic Digital Media manufactures about 70% of DV media, Sony manufactures 25% and TDK manufactures 5%. These figures are approximate and of course subject to change. I know Maxell and Fuji have DV and DVCPRO tape brands, I would expect these manufacturers to enter the game very soon if they are not already as both have a history of providing media.

What I can find from direct experience of these OEM arrangements is that Panasonic makes Canon and JVC tape. Sony makes its own tape. TDK makes its own. I do not know who makes Fuji, Maxell or other tape brands.

Is there any truth to this...??

Panasonic DOES NOT make DVCPRO stock tape of any kind. They buy it from Fuji. This is not true though for DV tape (large or small, MQ, PQ or AMQ) - this IS made by Panasonic and sold as stock (bulk) to other people who put it in their own casing. The difference between the two is that DVCPRO is metal particle tape (for which Panasonic does not own the technology) and DV (all flavours) is metal evaporated (cheaper to make).

would u guys give it up with this crap..lol..really..... this has been talked about to death, if you want to use another brand and chance your camera getting errors ...ffs do it. No one wants to hear about.
