A little footage from Scotland using the AF101 and the Atomos Ninja

Much of this was shot with the Voigtlander 25mm F0.95 which is just a fantastic lens. Cheers, Sparky.

Really fantastic footage. Yep, the Voigt 25 is a special lens, and it brings out the best of that camera, and the person operating it. Very nice work!

Thanks guys. Not sure of typical aperture, but if subject was in a fixed position, probably set at around F1.8 to F2. For a lot of the tee shots etc, you're better off shooting around F6. I bought the 25mm that week to use and I just can't recommend it highly enough. Build quality, everything is just great. The Ninja is an awesome tool to have as well.

I loved shooting with the overcast conditions. Often out in the sun I overexposed a little too much at times - getting used to knowing how much to expose the camera in bright conditions takes lots of practise. I have the Zebras set to 70% and 90%. One great benefit about using the Ninja is that you can darken the image a little and add to contrast to a slightly overexposed scene without degrading the image at all.

Yeah, I'm still wrestling with how to expose properly for cloudy vs sunny skies, especially when there's faces (and hats, as in your case, too) involved.

So do you show just a bit of 90% Zebra for overcast conditions? I keep my Zebras at 70 and 90 also, but am still working off of the SD cards....

Good stuff! just what I was needing to see. Love that lens, I just picked up an FD 24mm F1.4 for my set, love it! The ninja is my next purchase for sure. :-)

Yep, for overcast conditions I usually show some zebra at 90%, and it varies when the sun is out. If you check out my Morgan Pressel clip, I had to open up a little to get the exposure right on her face, and there was plenty of Zebra at 90%, but I think the results are fantastic. Looking back at a lot of the footage I took (when the sun was out) , I could have closed it up by about a stop. I try to get the maxium range out of the camera but you have to be careful. Mind you, when I did over exposure a couple of times, in the edit, I reduced the brightness a little and it looked great. That's probably helped by the fact that I shoot everything with the Ninja, and you do get a lot more room for pushing the picture around. I'd be interested to see what you think of the Morgan clip I have posted today, because I think it looks just awesome.

Yep, use the SD cards and Ninja at the same time. It would be awesome if one could trigger the other, but you get used to pressing both buttons I guess. A 500gig drive within the Ninja can hold approx 12 hours of footage, so I just keep it on there and use it as long term backup. It's a great device.
