A little clone test with the DVX

I worked on filming this shot 4 or 5 different times trying to get the lighting good enough to make the cloning work out. Not that the lighting is good, it's just way, way better for constructing the comp for this effect. Anyone who's attempted cloning knows how important a nice evenly lit, unchanging background is. Now I do too!

The final video was shot at 30P with my DVX100b by myself in one take.

How did you do the passing of the cup, was there a table in the middle that you masked out??

Yep, I used a table that I masked out. That and then some detailed rotoscoping in AE to create fingers and the cup handle void after the pass. The angle of the cup was another detail I worked out to make for a smooth transition. Think it turned out OK?

Looked like a lotta fun. I liked the use of flash transitions, playing with DOF and of course the cloning scenes! A nice piece of work for just having fun. Was it shot 24p?
