A Lightsaber Fan Film, 10 min. from Tyler TX

ok you wanna talk geek factor, joules, newtons, mass, etc etc...if it's a light saber, i.e., a sword made of light, then how come it casts a shadow on that one guy when the girls surround him with the one saber at his throat....hmmm?

yeah I know I'm just being an asshole, :p...great film though

It casts a shadow cause we shouldn't have left the prop blade in in that shot, lol. We shot the end first, so we were walking around shooting with the blades in, and eventually started fixing that, which you can see iin the first scene on the courts, when they all turn them on. You can see a prop blade leanng against the tennis net when corey whirls both blades. Have you spotted R2D2?

Thats freaking hilarous by the way about Luke's action fgure saber color, we've been workng on this and showing it to people for nearly a year and I haven't heard that yet. we should do action fiigures that have sabers that come out of our wrists like the old ones.

Totally. Remember the R2 Unit made a 'beeping click' sound when the head turned? The new ones do not; sell outs.

I've got that R2 sitting on one of my home theater speakers, so yes.

funny strip Hudson.

I was born the year after episode 4 came out. so I guess it took a while for me to catch on.

My three-year old son just inherited my sizable 1995 collection, which is almost entirely worthless BTW. A friend of his was watching IV when we were over visiting and now he's hooked like a fiend.

Except for a red-card Obi-Wan, the boy has nearly 100 figures at his disposal along with an X-Wing, Scout Walker, Tie Fighter, Imperial Shuttle Transport and some sundry pieces introduced during I.

He runs around the house all day, "Dart Vater! Dart Vater... is notty!"

Better in his hands than in the attic!

but I've always wondered what you do to make your lightsabers pulsate.

and these were roto'd right? I'm sure you've done other things to it too but if anyone can jump in give me some advice about how to pulsate them...what i mean is, the glowing look- the live energy feel.

thanks.

My son has tons of figures; the Darth VAder talking Helmet; the Millenium Falcon and numerous other SW items including a Lightsabre. He's my little filmmaking junkie.

So how does Vader, the baddest badass of all badass time, come out of Anakin, whiny-ass punk?

I know a movie starts tomorrow which will depict just that (that was a rhetorical question), but they got lotsa ‘splainin’ to do.

of course it's not gonna make sense. you'll see Anakin whining all the way till the end then suddenly he'll have an english accent underneath that infamous mask.

but it's getting hot reviews so who knows... .

The sabers pulsate because of an effect in AE called The Wiggler, i believe, if you're interested in how to get those effects, like i was like 2 years ago, go to www.ryan-w.com, its those tutorials that taught me to do the effects tests to convince my cast and crew i wasn't a dick.
"Is this on yours?" is one of my favorites, and believe me that part wasn't funny while we were shooting at 4 in the morning the last night, I was really worried that moment wouldn't cut/play. I was wrong. I still kinda wish we had some tense music there.
Another favorite is the wall burn, as we used our fingers and charcoal to apply that to the wall, but RW went in and took it out before the saber hits, and then darkened it afterwards.

I would just like to say really quick that I'm sitting here watching ep 4 from the recent SE box set (saw 3 tonight) and you can CLEARLY see a prop blade shadow when luke has the helmet blast sheild down practicing on the facon.

I feel much better now.
