Some days you just gotta say WOW!
The HVX showed off today BIG time in a less then perfect situation. And made us look good as well!
We took on a somewhat down and dirty commercial to help one of our regular agencies.
One shot called for a continuous walk through offices, through the warehouse and past intense daylight bounced shop bays. All had different color temps and levels of lighting.
I wanted to throw in the towel on this shot, but figured I'd try the ATW feature. While I normally would have spent hours lighting this, there was NO TIME for anything but a quick 1K on one "black hole".
When our client saw the results in Post they were amazed.
We also had to shoot rows of tires, (with 1, 100 watt light in a back room). The HVX with 12 db got plenty of detail of the black tires tread in a nearly black room. Much better then I could have hoped for.
I can't tell you what edit system I'm using yet,
but after a quick post session with NO color correction yet, I could let the spot go to the stations and it would look better then many of the spots I see.
Tomorrow I'll make it even prettier, but the exellent color, lack of noise and overall contrast range was FANTASTIC!
Thanks for letting me gloat about the HVX. This was by far the worst test I've ever given our HVX. Maybe now I'll take on more of those down and dirty 30's I've always passed on.
