A fun little short

Good DP work!! looks great, what job did you do with magic bullet? I will be buying my own dvx100b next week and I am doing my research!!

Yes, the camera work was nice. I thought the vignette were a bit distracting.

I keep saying that when we decide to just do something quick for fun, try to make a small effort on telling a story, even if its something simple... better than just a collage of nice shots.

For instance, picture this; instead of having him just walk around and thats it... in the few second the clip lasted, have him leave that starting spot where he start walking and go searching for something he might have lost... but he did not find it because it was left behind just where he started walking away and did not notice.

I believe that if we start getting into the habit of saying something with a conflict, it will make us better story teller.

You did a good job on the camera and CC'ing, but there is always room to take it a step above. Keep it going, it seems to be natural from you to shoot well.

Looks pretty good. I liked the look of the long shot of the guy walking down the road. It was a little darker than the rest and got alittle more of that softer film feel. How did you get that look? I have Magic Bullet but haven't gotten around to using it yet. I've been learning (playing) with my camera to get nice images when shooting. Nice work though.

I thought the first shots were okay, but seemed too sharp.

Also, unrelated to the look, I thought a couple of shots seemed to not go so well together. The wipe from the face to the boot (or the other way around) kinda struck me as strange. And the cut where he is being shot at a low angle up towards his chin to the long shot of him going into the woods. Not sure if you were paying mind to the editing but figured it couldn't hirt to point it out. That being said, I am still a newbie so this is more from a lifelong viewer standpoint.:)

Yeah that was magic bullet, and a little bit of nattress effects as well. I like his their stuff too. Especially their film flash transisition. Anyway, good luck on the DVX, you'll LOVE IT!

Were you using a 35mm adapter and messed up on zooming in or did you do the vignetting in post? If you want the vignette, I'd take it down a bit, it was a little distracting. Do you remember what settings you used in camera? It looked fantastic and I am looking to get a similar look for an upcoming short I am DPing.

I cant really remember what camera settings I was using that day. I wish I had a 35mm adapter! Nothing crazy with the shutter speed or anything. Honestly I just slapped a Magic Bullet filter on there to cool it down and put that goofy vignette on there. (I didnt like it either but my buddy wanted it!) I wish I had a 35mm adapter! We just threw it together in a few minutes cuz thats all our wives would let us do. (Does anyone else have problems with their wives letting them have some alone time with their DVX?)
