A frigid delight of a short.

Dear DVXusers,
Today I found myself dying to make a short film. With no actors and no specific place set in mind I went to the train station next to my house with a Sigur Ros song stuck in my head. This place that interested me very little at first, as does winter usually. A New England winter is never all too pleasant. However, in making this short I found a new found love for this place that although is a strange somewhat run down trainstation there is beauty in it! It really made me happy, and I was pretty glad with how this came out. Please feel free to comment and such. Thanks!

I liked the last shot actually, haha. Interesting. It was very calming. I enjoyed it.
Anyway, it's a shame that you can't put your camera to work with people. It's how I often feel. It's hard to find people. So I feel your pain about recording nature, but it's better practice if nothing else.

downloading it as we speak. the first link crashed my web browser.

*** the second link crashed my browser as well.

As you have come to accept the everyday beauty of your home, I have come to love the places I rarely, if ever, go. New England is among them now.

I wish my home was beautiful - or rather, that I could find its beauty.

I am now on a mission.

LeSeulGiraffe,
I look forward to seeing it! I know how you feel. I've hated new England for numerous years, and have always been more partial to the warmer climates, or greener (during winter especially). I really have a problem with snow, so that is a major aspect of it. I'd say my favorite climate is Seattle. I visit there about 3 times a year, and I don't think it will ever get old!

Nice short. Your post and the comments of LeSeulGiraffe remind me of a pensive quote which goes like this:

Do you love me because I am beautiful,
Or am I beautiful because you love me?

In the context of your post, this quote might read:

Do you shoot something because it is beautiful,
Or does it become beautiful because you shoot it?

Could you talk more about what you did in post in terms of color correction and other variables you tweaked?

Thanks for sharing your settings.

Actually, I did no post color corection on this except for the little B&W opening. I just tweaked the color temp on the camera so it would be a little colder. Besides that, no post CC.

Again, nice images -- especially without any post work.

Could you tell us about the specific tweaks/adjustments to settings you made in camera? Did you have any technical issues in exposing correctly for the snow?

I went to Seattle over the holiday and used my 100b. I loved it for a lot of shots.

I just adjusted the color temperature to a little colder setting, and the snow did not pose too much of a problem because the overcast day cut out a lot of problems I would have encountered with the snow.
Thanks for taking so much interest in my shots!
