A few questions regarding HPX workflow

I am shooting a short film this january and we are renting a HPX with a PS Technik adapter. We are planning on dumping the footage off of the p2 cards onto my macbook pro while on set and then editing on a Mac Pro we have in our edit bay. both machines are running the new Final Cut Studio. I am planning on buying the duel adapter for my macbook pro http://www.duel-systemsadapters.com/shop.cfm?categoryid=2

My questions are: will this adapter work for us? will we need anything else in order to transfer and edit the footage?

also when transfering over the final cut project files and media files is it possible just to capture onto an external on set and then plug that in to the Mac Pro in the bay and edit or are we going to need to drag and drop the footage over onto another drive?

any help with these questions is greatly appreciated.

if i havent been clear let me know and i will try and clarify.

All depends on how much horse-power you want.... you can edit off an external drive.. but everything will be crippled by the in/out... if it usb2 it's going to be slow...

An hour or so transferring the files to the mac pro will save you time in the long run...

The other way to go is using a bare SATA drive in one of those usb slide housings and then you could slide in straight into the mac pro...

I just got one of those USB-ESATA Thermaltake docking stations - it is great! I had tons of small SATA bare drives just sitting around wasting space, and now I use them as backups for old finished jobs. I highly recommend the ST0005U...

Yeah they work pretty good.. I got one when I was updating my macpro... replacing 500gb drives with 1.5tb drives.. but I stlll need to access the material on the 500gb drives...
