I've got this SET a few days ago... :

.. .and connect it to my FS700:

..so I did 512GB memory card and R5 recorder UPDATE .. and start to shoot some TESTs ..

... I have themn on my server for about 24 hours since now ( Tuesday, Sept. 17, 5:00pm EST ) so, if you want to - you can get them to play with it in Sony RAW Viewer

( NONE of that files are real FILMING, it's just a TESTS, so don't be to strong about it, please! :) )

thanks Serge! btw you can import these files directly to Resolve 10 (in R10 lite only export them to maximum 2k)
 
I feel like we have an F5 in our with the R5 recorder. A new camera all together. Beautiful image Serg. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Daomay! .. How is your beautiful son today? You are so lucky with him ! :)
I found that 4K need MUCH BETTER LENSES than I have... :embarasse ... Maybe later I will have a chance to rent some SUPERSPEED ZEISS lenses and try it with this setup....
or maybe someone from New York, who have good lenses and would like to meet me in here to try it in 4K RAW ? so .. send me private message with your e-mail and tel. !

My son is great. Thanks for asking. I think with the right lenes and the right crew the R5 + FS700 could produce one of the best footage for it price range. I wish someone Chinese company would make a cheaper version of the R5. I would import it in a heart beat hehe.

Convergent Designs is making the Odyssey 7Q, which is essentially a cheaper version of the R5.

Odyssey 7Q is not just a "version of the R5" , it's compeltely different device: It's OLED Monitor and 4K 10-bit YCC ProRes 4:2:2 / 2K DNG 240fps Recorder / Try to compare 4K 12bit RAW from R5 recorder to 4K 10-bit YCC ProRes 4:2:2 and you will see the difference .... a lot of people talking about how they "do not need 4K RAW", but no one want to remember about latitude... :)

I'm not sure this is a good idea... When I don't HAVE TO shoot in 4K RAW, I can shoot in regular HD without any external recorders at all - exactly as good as clients pay for it... :) but when I will have to shoot something SERIOUS, I would prefer to be 100% sure about my Camera, HXR-IFR5 interface unit , AXR-R5 RAW Recorder / 512GB Memory card and Card Reader :)

This is why I shoot a lot of testing now - trying to find the best way to shoot RAW with FS700 ...
strange, but I don't see yet why we got so much noise in S-log-2 / 2000 ISO, even this is the same as GAIN 0 ... I understand that camera noise reduction do not work on RAW files, and we have to use noise reduction software on our computers.. but "free" "Da Vinci Resolve" light version don't have it .. :embarasse
...you see what I'm trying to say: If you get an order to shoot on PROFESSIONAL LEVEL, - you've got responsibilities for result... and don't have to worry about cost of your devices - different day rate must to pay for it :)

Will ACR work with FS700 RAW? Their de-Bayer + noise reduction works very well. Neat Video is another option.

This what I specially looking on internet.. and found it in India :) -->

That lights do NOT flicker in ANY shooting speed.. even in 480 & 960 fps!

IF you going to order it, from them - talk to them on Skype first and ASK them to include ORANGE filter for every single Panel.. instead of Yellow one !!! ( yellow is not good with regular lighting at home )
You can say that "Serge from New York" recommend it :)

Well it isn't like the Odyssey 7Q can't do it, they just aren't allowed to do it.

Oh, Yeah !.. because Sony don't want to loose customers, who even don't like SIZE of Sony Interface Unit and R5 recorder with battery ("Sony 4RAW Recording Set"), still NEED 4K RAW with maximum available latitude ...
Why I would pay $12000 for "Sony 4RAW Recording Set", if Odyssey would give me the same 4K 12-bit RAW up to 60fps for 50% of that price - $6000 ?? :)
maybe we have to ask Trammell Hudson.. to "play" with Odyssey and make it ..work "properly" ... :-Laugh(DBG):
 
We are getting this setup for a film in 2 weeks and will be shooting on the Schneider Xenar Cinema Lenses. I will post samples here if the director allows it! I am curious though, how many minutes of footage at 4K RAW 24fps can you record? We are trying to gauge hard drive purchasing and I can't find any resources on this. We will be doing some slow motion stuff too, so I am sure that will eat up way more data.

Thanks for posting these samples, I am downloading them now so I can watch over them.

Is there any guides online with workflow on these RAW files? This will be my first time working on Sony RAW files. I am curious whats the best way to go about using them.
