All of you keep refering to the HVX as a "film makers camera" well I'm a film maker too, but I follow people around and need long record times. I am psyched for the release of this camera. Some of you may ask why, you can only record 8 minutes. Well I won't always be recording full 1080.
The main point I want to make is as run and gun camera operator, is I generally have something strapped to my body as it is. I hate putting wireless packs or small field mixers on the camera They're always on my back chest or belt. I will embrace any system that will let me get hi def into a semi hand held system. I personally like the idea of having a drive hooked to my back. I'm quite excited to see what devices will be able to interface with the HVX. Even if I had P2 cards I'd still have some sort of cable going from the camera to body. EX. monitor headphones, mic cable, battery, zoom controller.... and the list goes on.

Why hook the drive to your back? Wouldn't you want it somewhere in front where you can make sure that it's working properly? I'd hate to go through an hour of shooting just to find out that the drive was accidentally turned off.

I use "strapped to my back as a figure of speach. yes you're right I would want any sort of onboard display in a viewable location, probably on my belt, thigh, chest, or side. I'm pretty good rigging and double checking my peripheral gear.
