That was shot using the DVX? When I saw it a while back it didn't look like it had been. I really didn't like that movie. Not only did it look crappy but it was just retarted. Maybe they shot it in 60i.

It was. I haven't seen it, but I know a friend of the Director and he was telling me that they used at least 3 DVXs.

If they did...wow. What a waste of DVX power. You could have shot some really good porn instead of that movie. Then it would be at least worth my time to watch it. :D

Yes is out on DVD at Blockbuster. When you watch the making of the movie you will see 3 dvx and they will talk about why they shot the film digital. To me it looks like video they probably shot this 60i. Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: A DAY WITHOUT A MEXICAN SHOT ON DVX100A

It was definetly shot on digital and printed to 35mm.

Yeah, that thing looked really awful. They could have bought 3 TRV's for less than the price of one DVX and it would have turned out the same.

Re: A DAY WITHOUT A MEXICAN SHOT ON DVX100A

I rented the DVD this weekend...good concept, but too long.
Classic example of a show that could easily have been a 1/2 hour shorter without losing a thing.
It appears from the "making of" segment, that it was mostly shot with DVX's (a Digibeta size camera is seen briefly in an exterior orchard scene).
If it was a DVX, it is the sharpest such footage I have seen from mini-dv. I viewed it on a 32" TV with an S-connector input. Apparently, Efilm did the film out and it's really terrific. There are many night for night and wider daylight scenes that hold up beautifully. The DP obviously had a full lighting and grip complement and wisely covered interiors with CU's and medium shots to maximize the capabilities of the DV format. Couldn't tell from the making of segment if they used the 16x9 adaptor lens or not.
Just my .02.
