Hi all,
I've just finished a day with Barry Green along with a class of 20 other people eager to learn what the HVX can do. Still pumped and excited by the experience I thought I'd do a little write up.
I bought a HVX202EN PAl last month and was informed by Barry on the DVX boards that he would be in AUSTRALIA for the release of the HVX and he told me to email rob myers who is a Panasonic rep here in OZ. So I did, and Rob warmly invited me for the Panasonics release of the camera here in Brisbane ( capital city of Queensland , Australia ) on the wednesday night as well as the days training with Barry Green.
Now I admit, I know nothing about cameras or film making but what I am trying to teach myself off these boards and from other websites.
So to go for a free days training with Barry and Rob made me pretty darn happy. Not only would this course be free as I bought a HVX recently but the fact that Panasonic has flown an Emmie award winning producer and writer over to Australia to help market and give training on the camera and its capabilities, has given me more respect for a company that listens to its users. Plus there was free food and did I mention Beer for those who attended! I was sold from the word Beer

First of all before going to this training day I assumed Barry to be a person who spends a little too much time on computers, kind of a nerdy camera guy, you know? no life, no wife, maybe a little tubby around the mid line and spends a little too much time dreaming and not producing. hmmmm sounds like me?
WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!!!!!!! This guy knows his stuff, and knows his cameras and the way they work. After listening to Barry in his lecture on the first night ( First there was a 2 and a half hour release of the HVX then the days training was the following day ) which went for 2 and a half hours my head was buzzing with the info that had just been drilled into my head.
That night I was restless in bed because all I could think about was the endless options that was waved in front of me. The first night Panasonic waved the carrot in front of me. So I couldn't wait for the next days full training day.
The next day from 10am in the morning till the class finished at 5pm in the arvo. Not only did I learn more about the HVX then I have read about on the net since the camera came out, but I also learnt more from Barry Green in one day then I would have from another course on the same subject in a week!
All I can say is hats off to you Barry.
You make learning fun, finished and easy to remember all at once. I for one will be Buying that HVX guide that you have just released, for more in depth learning and also as a reference to go back to.
I'm now so excited about my HVX then I was when I first walked into hear and learn about the HVX. Why you ask, because I know how to at least use the camera now.
I guess what today for me was is a taste of what you lucky guys and girls over in the states call the HVX BOOT CAMP. How I envy thee. :crybaby:
So thanks Barry Green and Rob Myers for a great and interesting day and exciting event. I only hope Panasonic AUSTRALIA imports you Barry back again to AUSTRALIA for an OZ style BOOT CAMP.
