Re: A day at the races

Good editing .... ;D Your roommate has a good eye for shots, just not very steady. Use a 15lb. weight held like a camera for 1 hour a day. ;D

Re: A day at the races

Well, Hunter said it all. I agree.
Reminds me of my friend, probably the only person in the world who would get away with *repeatedly* stealing my camera..(did't he also take it to NYC with him?).
I didn't care at all for what he was shooting, but I can't say it better than Hunter--his eye is the star of that clip. Freakin raw potential. He'll be a HUGE asset to any of your upcoming projects...just get the man a bloody tripod already!

it's clear that he knew what he wanted, and he was consistent in getting it. I'll repeat again that I didn't care AT ALL for the cars...LOL...but you can't help but realize that the guy must have used up at least a whole tape getting the shots he wanted. That's what I look for in a DP...it has nothing to do really with learned skill, but with where his mind is, and what he's going for...gaffers can help him get there.

Re: A day at the races

Funny thing is, he only shot 20 minutes of tape. He's got ADD so whatever catches his eye, he shoots. I think his real tallent is in editing. He and i make a good team, he'll start something, and I'll bounce ideas off him, then he puts it all together.

I'm working heavily on the Region Stabilize plugin in Avid Xpress Pro, and i hope to clean up some of those shots. I'm also nearing the end of my 3 week trial of Genarts Saphire Plugins... so we need to finish that piece up.

Yeah, we need a stabilizer. I'm thinking of a Varizoom Flowpod... any experiance?

Next time... We'll have some POV footage going along the course. The other race car has a camera mount. (the car ain't mine... :-[ )
