A couple of MacBookPro and Firestore questions

Does anyone know if the Firewire 800 and 400 on the 17inch are on seperate buses? My idea is that I could plug an external drive into the 800 port then the firestore into the 400 port and transfer then across- any advice?

If I plug the dump the footage off the firestore to the external drive as outlined above would it be faster than realtime so that if I had 2 firestores I could dump one while recording on the other then just swap?

And finally how much space does an hour of 1080p footage take up? So if I was recording it onto the firestore how long could it hold?

Thanks for any help, I am just trying to workout my workflow before I purchase the camera and laptop.

Same bus. You could, however, get a firewire adaptor card for the Macbook's slot. That is on a separate bus. When shooting 1080 figure one gig per minute.
