A Couple New EX1 Questions

Hey Guys. I was hoping any of you could help with two things I have been unable to find answers to.

1. I realize you can hot swap the cards while shooting. If you were sitting on a locked shot (on a tripod) of a long event, would it be easy to remove the full card and replace it without disrupting the steadiness of the shot? Or is alot of resistance/force needed to remove a card?

2. When shooting 720p XDCAM, is the data rate less than 35mbs due to the smaller raster size? I guess the reason I'm asking is the obvious benefit of being able to shoot more on a single SxS card. I do realize I would be sacrficing quality and the chips are not natively 720p, but this would be for standard def delivery anyway. If so how much time does an 8 gig card yield at 720p (30fps)?

Thanks!

It would be really hard to to this without jarring the camera on a typical tripod. They're a bit easier to insert/remove than P2 cards, but still have some resistance. If you were on a wide shot and on a beefy support, you could do it. Maybe rent a tripod used for 16 or 35mm gear for that day - like an O'Connor 2575.

All of the HQ data rates are the same - 35Mbps - regardless of format. There is no savings for going to 720, except that compression is slightly lower. There are the SQ settings that lower quality in exchange for 25Mbps data rate, but few people have tried them that I know of.
