A Colonel's Farewell

I found this on an old DVD. Since I lost the tapes I'm messing around with some programs to rip DVDs.

Anway -- I did this project last summer for the Vice Commander of the wing leaving. I took out the slide show portions of the video and left the story portions.

I'd have done a few things different, but we had one day to shoot all these different locations and we were making it up as we went.

As it turned out, I first shot the interview with the female colonel having the guy die... and then he comes back to life after we've turned out the lights in the operating room. She got cold feet and the morning of the farewell dinner she called me up early to ask if I could reshoot. (what am I going to say.)

She was wearing a different uniform and I only had enough time to shoot one take with her. I was able to intercut some closeups from the other day's shooting and you can just make out she's in a different uniform.

Anyway -- nothing superspecial here, but it was a fun lesson. Some of the jerkyness of the video is the ripping... some was just the way I shot. All intentional... if not overdone.

crazy stuff man!

Well I didn't really get the whole story but that could be because of my poor english...
I liked the camera work, made the whole thing more real. Sometimes the faces were a little bit too dark but thats ok.
It's cool that you can walk in everywhere and film these great locations and equipment and stuff. Other people pay a fortune to recreate that and it still looks embarassing. As I said the camerawork and the equipment make it feel real but the actors (I know they aren't actors but normal guys from that base) ruin it all....

I mean everything looks so real (because it is :-) and the people behave whery strange that makes it kind of surreal to me !

So all in all it was ok to watch and I'm sure it was fun to shoot and that's what really matters!

Hi good work but there are more zoom and the camera have a lot of shakes (for my taste). yes i know that you wanted to make tension... but more shakes

Agreed. With both of you.

I should have used a tripod... even with the flashy camera moves.

Like I said... I've grown a bit from there.

Thanks
