A certain look

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of settings/lighting would be needed in the DVX 100 for getting shots to look like the battle scenes from Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan. Color Correction aside are there any tips / tricks that you guys might have to help out in this look?

Turn the CHROMA LEVEL all the way down and MATRIX or NORM to keep the colors down. Probably use the CINELIKE_V gamma for maximum CONTRAST. You can lower the MASTER PEDESTAL if you want to further push the contrast, it should be at -5 or -6 anyway, and you can push it lower to increase contrast. Shutter speed for those was generally a 45 degree shutter, which is basically 1/192 sec, so 1/250 should be close.

At least on SPR, they got some old lenses and beat them up to purposely cause fogging, flares, etc. So, you might think about removing the standard matte box off the DVX and intentionally shooting in the direction of the sun to get some flares and generally cruddy up the image.

Awesome thanks a ton guys! your advice has definately helped! When i shoot it i will post a pic and show you guys what ive done! Thanks!
