GH2 A Broken GH2 Goes West

First a little back story. I was on a shoot two days before taking a trip out West, when I had a painful reminder of what "quick" meant in reference to a quick release plate. Suddenly the camera and my beloved SLR Magic 25mm lens descended five feet towards a wooden floor as I helplessly looked on in horror and embarrassment. The camera seemed to only sustain minor damage to the battery door, the lens was fine, and so I was able to complete the job. However, the next day I opened up the LCD screen and it wasn't pretty. Well that isn't exactly accurate - it was colorful but totally useless. Of course there was no time for a quick repair and in a panic I considered buying a GH3 the day before departure.

In the end I decided to just go with the GH2 and resigned myself to using only the EVF. That actually had its advantages, one being that i didn't have to constantly show people what I had shot. But setting up a dash cam for example was difficult and had to be done with a healthy dose of trust. In the end the results are in my mind, a testament to a great camera and the amazing landscapes available to all. On my return I had the LCD replaced ($180).

Un-hacked GH2 camera.
Moving images captured with the Panasonic 14-45mm lens with a B+W circular polarizer.
Stills were the SLR Magic 25mm HyperPrime CINE T0.95 lens.
Edited in two parts for convenience.

Enjoy.
