PBS' Nova recently produced a episode titled "Search for the Super Battery" that anyone interested in where the technology is headed may want to watch. If your not a subscriber there's bootleg copies on YouTube.
 
At first I thought this was an April Fools prank. When I checked the inventor's unusual name, I found this is on the Up&Up!
 
Just an FYI - there is a lot of global battery research and most of those "great in the lab" achievements do not make it to the market. A year or so ago, I was reading a piece about Tesla, where Musk said that they were following some fifty odd (56, from memory) different science projects all across the globe.
