A brand to far

Last week I was out on a job with my DVX, the shoot went fine and the pictures looked good. Just what I and the customer wanted....until I got home and actually wieved the recording. The picture was full of artefacts and the sound went beeep! boooo! skhriiiiiiiiiii!!.....:-/ So now I have to send the camera to get it repaired. It is most likely because of switching tape brands. I admit I was aware of the risks but when you use the camera proffessionally it is very easy to just grab some tapes from the shelve as you run out the door..:-[

I have learned the hard way and from now on I swear to always use one brand. Panasonic tapes only from now on.

Question: Panasonic MQ is my first choice, but what about PQ? Can I use both? or is it tabu even to switch beetween to different types of tapes when the brand is the same?

Pardon my engelsk

Nothing I guess...just making a feeble (can you say that? ..feeble?) attempt at being funny and gain acceptance and appreciation here at the forum.

I think technically speaing...u can switch between these two brands but actually... whether u shold do it...is ur own choice. Generally people DON'T. Its a norm to try to stick to the same brand.

Re: A brand to far

Thank you for answers, both americans and swedes.
I will take your advice and stick to MQ`s from now on.
Now if you excuse me I have to figure out a way to raise cash for repairing my beloved DVX (I call her Pia you know..the cam that is). Guess I should get a real one soon but the DVX is better...she`s more responsive to my wishes.....well..anyway...."couch"...see you soon :)
