i shoot mostly skateboarding, and am looking to find the smallest possible backpack that will still fit my dvx100, fisheye, and a spare battery or two for short trips.

i spend a lot of time climbing over fences, up into trees, and onto rooftops and whatnot, so size is crucial.

thanks in advance for your advice.

lol, if you do all that, definetly get the backpack type camera bag. not the shoulder straped type.

the ideal skater backpack or any cam. backpack for that matter is the Ogio ty backpack (Ty Evans - the skate industry's top filmer)

i know the ty bag. that thing is designed to hold 2 vx's. waaaay too big.

i've got a lowepro computrekker that holds everything in my rig, but i need something small for quick missions.

What you should look for is a rucksack made for holding a DSLR with a telephoto attached, like this, which is what I've used for my DVX.

The Ogio Atiba is a lot smaller than the Ty bag. Also a lot of snowboard companies have smaller camera backpacks.

I used a Tamrac Backpack with my HVX when I traveled throughout south east asia.
Worked great.

Just buy a regular backpack, and buy a few squares of mattress foam to cut down and pad it out with. it costs about a fifth of the price of a "real" camera backpack, and if you do a good job padding it out, it protects your camera a lot better then any of those other bags could. in a similar situation to you, as i film a lot of bmx, riding to between spots with the cam on my back, and the homemade solution feels a lot more trustworthy than the "professional" option when you're blasting around town trying to keep up with a pack of bmxers.
