a "back-up folders/files" question

I hate to ask this. It seems so lame. And yet after 2 months using Xpress Pro, and becoming a fairly proficient editor, I still don't understand media management very well. In particular, I don't even know which folder should really be "copied" to a disk or external drive to back-up all my editing work (not the master clip files, just the edited sequences, etc.). I see the project bins are all listed in the Avid Attic folder. Is this the one I should be copying to a disk for safekeeping? I can't seem to see the project folders in any other folder, including the one called "Avid Projects" withint the Avid program file program. You'd think they'd be in there! But that folder is actually empty. Maybe that's because they're all being saved to my external drive. I see an Avid folder there with a bunch of .avb files in them for each project. Is that the folder I should be backing up--the ones with .avb files in it? See how lame I am?

The Attic is for history of the current project and is used if you delete a sequence or a bin from the current project and want to being it back. The project you want to back up is in: Program Files/Avid/Avid Xpress Pro/Avid Projects/XXXXX

Where XXXX is a folder of your project which contains the project, bins, settings, etc. I like to zip those files first before backing up to a CD that way they don't get automatically locked as "read only" during the burn process.

Thank you MichaelP! Very very much appreciated.

It seems my projects folder is being saved to my external drive. So it's not in the Program Files folder on my C: drive, but in its own Avid Projects folder on my "H:" (external) drive. It has all the .avb files in it. I assume backing up this folder is a comprehensive back-up of my work (not including original master clips and rendered effects).

Cheers!

As long as you know where it is then you are all set. The default is the path I gave you, but it can be anywhere.
