A+A's Wedding Highlights | Shot on GH Cameras!

Weddings are challenging. The GH cameras are my field weapons of choice. Speedy setups, quality of image, and peoples ability to relax around the gear we shoot on. For this shoot I used 3 GH2's and the camera that started it all for me - the Gh1. I employed mostly takumar glass, with the wide angle stuff shot on the 12mm SLR Magic. I really likethe asthetic of the 12mm magic, but she's a contrasty girl compared to the Takumar glass. With a little help in post - everything cut together nicely though. These are great tools. Once you learn their strengths and weaknesses - then the best part of knowing your gear is being able to forget about it, and instead keep your attention on finding the story taking place around you.
Monopods, Glidecam HD4000, PBPocket Dolly, and manfrotto sticks. LPowell's Flowmotion 2.02and 75mbit reliability settings were used in the cameras respectively. Post done in FPX. Continued thanks to Vitally for unlocking these cameras potential, and the pioneers who test and produce the settings we need for our work. And to Driftwood and LPowell to whom I've used the most settings. Merry Christmas to everyone.

I thought that was beautifully done. I always prefer the wedding videos that have cinematic elements, but focus more on getting to know the couple and seeing people instead of poses, staged events, slider, slider, slider...

Well done!

Nice ! I shoot wedding with GH camera too, in south of France. I actually shoot with one GH13 and one HPX-250 for different kinds of shots.
Here is my question : Is the video above the main job that you deliver or do you achieve a full lenght movie with the GH camera only ?

So, here is the background for my question :
i shot with HPX250 to keep the continuity, and add GH cinematic shots. First, i deliver a little video (like above) for congrat's and thanks ( 3-5 min )
with GH shots at 90% of the time. The full-lenght movie is a lot more constitute by HPX'shots ( 70% of the time ).

It's the first year i shoot wedding and i know i'm making some mistakes. I spend too much time on the edit of the full lenght movie.
I got a lot of other job's and i deliver it sometimes 3 month after the wedding. ( the little video is delivered under 1 month ) ( i'm a single man edit team ).

This kind of video ( yours ) is beautiful and the narration make it something unique and so romantic...

I would prefer to make ONLY this kind of videos for wedding without editing a full lenght movie and i know i could deliver more beautiful videos with more shots from more GH camera, but is this realistic ? i mean, are people expected a full-lenght movie or a special short film made by an artist.. or both ?

Hope you'll understand my request Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

@inefab to answer your question, yes I shoot the entire wedding day mostly the same as the highlights short that I give the bride. There is a lot of footage to go through, and the feature runs chronologically. I agree just providing the wedding trailer would be easier... But there are so many moments that are great memories for the couple, and private things that aren't included on the trailer. Be sure to charge accordingly for a feature length production as it does take considerable time to put both kind of films together. Our feature films usually run 30-35 minutes and this does not include speeches. We add a separate chapter marker for speeches as this part of the story as we find this part will be watched less often and can interrupt the story's flow. Hope this was helpful for you and thank you for the compliments. All the best in your work!

Hi!

Separate speeches is a really good idea. I think it will help me for the future.

right on target!

Thank you.

Going to be honest, if you don't mind.

It was a little drawn out and "plain" for me. Maybe a little too much of the b-roll stuff such as the prepping.

I think this was one of your longer highlights and I personally preferred the bee keeper highlight to this one. Not a bad job, just not my fave of your posted videos.

really nice job. nice camera movement, great use of shallow DOF and a solid edit job!
was the aged photo "orange look" intentional or a happy accident?

my only thought is maybe its a bit TOO cinematic. the whole thing feels like an ad for a luxury car brand and has a heavy 3rd person vibe. i would think wedding clients would want something that was a bit more personal... but im single. so what do i know? ; )

I have done a couple of weddings for people I know. I haven't provided a long form version of the wedding, mainly because of lack of resources and coverage, but I do provide a 12-15 minute video mixing the style you showed here with soundbites from the wedding and reception. I think it provides all the necessary elements in a format that is still watchable for anyone.

You probably graded your footage right? I think it's overly orange. All in all, I think it's very well done. I got bored near the end, but hey, I'm not the intended audience. Reply back on how the clients feel about it. I think the music might be too slow.

@Victor Nhat Nguyen Hi. Thanks for your feedback. The bride was thrilled with the result. She didn't get bored watching it : ) Color grade is intentional and subjective of coarse. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

OP: Did you add any lighting elements (on camera, on stands, reflectors, etc.)?

@cole. No, I didn't add any reflectors or onboard camera lighting, but I used two lowel pro lights during the reception for the dance and speeches.
