A 2 part Question

1. I have discussed on the forum that I really like using older Nikon primes on my 5D. I do have an issue with what I feel is excessive lens flares. In different lighting condidtions. In low light candles cause it. When shooting in a mdium light room light from a window at mid day can cause it. Is this due to the type of coatings on the lens? Is there a remedy? I do have a nice matte box with flags but it doesn't help when you are shooting right into the source.

2. I shot video with a friend at a wedding recently. The flashes from his still caused anomalies on my video. quick white areas that covered half ths screen. I imagine this can be rsolved by shutter speed or ISO- just haven't found that to be true. Any ideas?

1. Yes, it's the coatings. More modern lenses handle this better. Look for AIs glass. Or try to keep the lights off frame and use your matte box.

2. Common to CMOS chips. Shutter adjustments will not fix the problem. A search here on CMOS and Flash, will net you at least a dozen discussions.
