8gig Card: How much does it really hold?

So i've read in multiple places that the 8gig P2 card should hold about 20 minutes when shooting in 720p, 8 minutes in 1080i. Is this correct? If so, why is it that when I shoot in 720p, i've only got an 8 minute recording window?

Is there a setting i'm missing, or is this '20 minute shooting time' simply wrong information?

are you sure you are actually in 720p mode? i have two 4 GB cards and I get 20 minutes in 720p...i've never recorded in 1080, don't have the need right now.

try reformatting the p2 card.

The problem is what frame rate are you using...

If you are shooting 720/60P, 8GB = around 8 minutes
If you are shooting 720/30PN, 8GB = around 16 minutes
If you are shooting 720/24PN, 8GB = around 20 minutes

Notice the "N" to indicate NATIVE mode. It is possible to shoot 30P or 24P and have it lay down on top of a 60P file; which will give only 8 minutes with 8GB.

I'm definitely shooting at 24 frames, but i haven't been shooting 720pn. I will try that. Thanks.
