A question about colour correction and 8vs10 bit? At a recent HD conference there was a heated discussion about CC in the 8bit colour space and how the footage 'falls apart' when compressed / decompressed several times during the journey of broadcast transmision.
One group insisted that the HVX footage needed to be converted to the 10 bit colour space CC'd then changed back to 8 bit for the broadcast cycle. While the others maintained that it made no difference...
What precipitated this exchange was a rep from Alliance / Atlantis (a major Canadian broadcaster -- and producer of the CSI franchise) saying that the HVX was not an acceptable camera for thier numerous broadcast and specialty stations.
