Here is a documentary I just finished. I shot it with the HVX200 in 480 24pA mode (due to editing restraints). This is the first documentary I have done. Let me know what you think. Also the video was done for school in a computer lab that I have limited access to and I am required to add the Final Cut Countdown so that is why it is included. Make sure to watch in high quality.

I didn't get to watch all of it, but it looked really professional to me. I would cut out from showing all the bikes passing the camera. Good job!

Thanks so much for your reply. I understand your comment about the bikes. I just thought that it would add scope to the amount of people that attend the event. I will take another look at it.

I watched it all and it is very heart warming. Nicely done. It is uplifting to see how people enjoy joining in an effort to help children and to build a sense of community. We need more of this all across the country, especially in this tough times. I think letting all the bikes pass by was nice because it gives everybody involved a chance to see themselves as part of the event. Some of them were even waving at the camera and I thought it was sweet.
Congratulations on your great piece and keep up the good work.

Why did you shoot in 24P?

Why not? Lots of doc's have been shot on film. Theres no reason to set 30p/60i as a documentary standard.

Didn't have time to watch the whole thing, but I sped through it all to see all the shots. It looked great! I've only shot at 720p since I've gotten my HVX, I had no idea how great the 480i looks. I understand its youtube, and quality is hard to notice, but from what I saw, it looked noticeably better than other 3CCD 480i footage from other cameras I've had experience with.

I have been nothing but extremely pleased with my HVX. The biggest complaint that I have is the LCD screen. Lately I have been having problems getting the natural representation of the color.

Ok had a look and since you asked here are my comments:
1. I would have cut some of the harley driving footage in between the first minutes, sort of sneak previewish type quick edits to make it more interesting and grab the viewers attention to keep on looking while the initiators explain their motives...
2. the whole topic is a very sweet idea and the story is pretty well told
3. I would have never thought something like Christianity and Harley Davidson could have ANYTHING to do with each other :-)

Very nice work, Matt. The voiceover was pretty high quality... though I don't feel like the voice was right. -- But I understand that it was probably you. So good job!

Professional imagery, and very very thoughtful editing. You've spent time on this, and it shows. It is very polished!!

Just saw the credit for Freeplay... I don't think you need to mention that... as it IS royalty free. It kind of degrades the piece and makes me feel like you just slapped on some random music -- even if it fits the piece well. What I've done in the past is just listed the name of the composer of that particular piece you found on Freeplay. It will look more professional. Trust me.

Thanks for sharing, Matt! I love the 24p!

I really appreciate all of the comments. Kyle, I completely understand what you are saying about the Freeplay music thing. I was required to put where I got my music from and who had the rights to it i.e. ASCAP or BMI and since it was royalty free I just put that. But I will change it now that the project has been turned in.
