Shot on HVX stock for project 21. We had 21 days to write it shoot it edit it and score it. I was the DP. Theres one shot in there with an insane shadow on the wall from an actor that the director insisted on having because it was"artsy" When I told him that putting a 1k 4 feet from someone's face in an office wasn't artsy he told me I didn't know art. So well see what you guys think. We tried to tell the story visually as much as possible. Also it had to be exactly 10 minutes long.

I didn't get to watch all of it because I am on someone elses wireless server. From what I saw, I think the cinematography was great considering you were only using a HVX and some lights. Especially the b-roll and opening credits.

I see that actor with the crazy hair every other day at school, it is crazy there are so many coincidence with our work.

Here's my absolute honesty.

The cinematography was by far the best part of this thing. It was well shot, well lit. The one shot I had an issue was with that UGLY shadow on the wall. I'm assuming it's the one that the director thought was artsy. We'll clearly he's the one that doesn't know art.

That being said, clearly the director doesn't know how to direct. I don't care if this was done in 21 days. I've seen 48 hour film fest stuff come out better. The actors we're fine, but I could tell the directions were really shaby. The way they talked, the way they moved, the blocking, etc... was just really poorly done. Then the way it was put together with the music was also not all too great. Moments when I was supposed to feel tense and nervous, I felt like it was hitting a dud. Also those crazy sped up shots... The editing as well...

Anyways, great cinematography considering what you had. This director needs to get a clue though.

Absolutely agreed. He found a great composer and basically showed him off. Also the reason he did the corny time remaps (WHICH KILLED OUR LONG TAKE) because it had to be 10 minutes max. And yes that one dumb shadow was his idea of art. If I decide to work with him again im going to sit him down and tell him a shot is 50% art 50% buisness you cant pick 100% art or it wont sell for a producer or even for the story. Thanks for the compliments on my cinematography. I was happy with the result. I wish we had more lighting though.
