FS7: 7Q owner with Extention unit to buy or not to buy

Off topic, but Olof, what's the replacement eyepiece you're using in your pics of the FS7 on your site?

I use these:

They are really nice if you wear glasses as the rubber cups tend to leave greasy smears on your glasses, these actually clean your glasses as you use the loop. I like them even when shooting w/o glasses as well, not sweaty like to rubber.

I have some older ones as well that are natural suede, they are even nicer and a nicer color as well. I used to make my own, but these work very well.

BTW I will be posting photos soon of more parts I have made for my kit. I now have a cheese plate for the top of the FS7 that does not require removing the handle. This is nice for mounting Monitors or Recorders like the O7Q, and with this plate you can use my Odyssey mounting system that always keeps the horizon level and allows mounting in the back, front high or low and on the right or left side of the FS7. I call it the half cheese plate, it is very light and only mounts on either side, or you can use 2 to have both sides at the same time.

And I have the tail hook for the VCT14 back with 15mm rod clamps ready as well. And next week I will have a 15mm vertical or horizontal cheese plate for the rear of the FS7 with a choice of battery plates BPU, GoldMount or IDX Vmonts. This is nice because you can balance the camera by sliding the batteries back and forth on the Rods.

Have a great weekend.

Olof, van you get to the Dtaps on those Swits in the FS7?

Yes the battery has a D-tap (P-tap) and a USB (5v) outlet as well.

There is no cable included and bear in mind 50w is the max combined draw.

I will check and make sure the D-tap is available even with battery in the FS7.

Olof might be a good idea to see what the maximum output on the P-Tap is. With similar batteries I have seen a 2 AMP limit out of the P-Tap. There is a circuit interupt on them when you go over and cuts out the power for a few minutes until it resets. You should see a small stamped output limit marked between the two terminal posts on the female P-tap.
