7Q LUT`s for monitoring

Hey, so i shot some projects on the 7q, mostly 2k and im quite happy with the results!

But its really hard nailing the exposure with slog2, i know its no problem when using raw but with the
4k2hd its quite important to expose proper, even with the slog i have the feeling the look is quite baked in,
a lot more then the prores files from my BMPCC when it comes to grading. Its really hard especially with skin tones.

So is there any way to load custom LUT`s on the 7q for monitoring?

And another question: Does it matter what ISO and ColorTemp i choose on the FS700, or
doesnt effect those values my picture when shooting raw, like on SLR´s or redraw?

I'm having similar 'issues'. I shoot 4kraw with slog on, and my fs700 lcd looks really white and bright (like dull slog footage), then my odyssey must have a lut on because it looks 'normal'. Then when I bring the dng's (4k files) into after effects in ACR, it auto puts a temp on them and they look pretty good to start with. So far it hasn't been a deal breaker because I can modify it in post and it usually starts close to where I want. I do believe it is pulling white balance info from the camera.

On the FS700, settings such as White Balance and Gain do effect the RAW signal. It is best to set them accordingly.

Programmable LUTs are not currently available for the Odyssey7Q, but they will be in a future firmware update.

AFACT (can tell) in the current RAW recording, the white balance is not baked in.

Very much looking forwards to programmable LUTS!

on my last job i accidentally shot some scenes with automatic WB :/ but i didnt worry, i thought i can fix it since its raw, but i wasnt able to recover the skin tones, they always look weird, no matter which tint or WB i choose in DaVinci.

should be easy to check. Just shoot a grey card with the same exposure and two different WB settings, then compare the raw linear files. If they're the same then it's just metadata. If the chroma curves shift then it's baked in.

You could potentially also try a black card or step wedge. If Sony are adjusting the gain before sending out the stream you'd expect the noise floor to move about a bit in the altered channels.

from my experience there's nothing bad with auto WB. I use it often in run & gun situations and it works pretty well. I know that real cinematographers don't use auto focus nor auto white balance either ;-)

Yes, i'd done that but there's always the room for operator error :)
