7meg Video from my 2nd day w/dvx100a :)

I decided to take the family out and try out the new cam. What I shot is below. I set the cam to scene file1 (the default that came with the camera) and only changed the ND filter. I was impressed ( of coarse I have been using only consumer grade camcorders untill now)and manual focus every now and then, but mostly left it to autofocus. I captured and edited in Vegas with no enhancements except for cross fades( maybe to many) no color correction no nothing.
Its not the greatest vid you will see . but i would like some feed back(how I can do it better). I was mostly testing and having fun with the family but it turned out nice...should have bought this cam long b4 now:)
This was shot and edited on 4-10-2004

Gear used:
dvx100a
tripod
ford station wagon
and some cardboard

New small file goodness

Aw, MAN! That's just way too long of a download . . .

Try encoding as an MPEG-4 or a WM7 . . . would love to see it.

its on the way.... we are uploading it to the server as I type...

I mean, it makes me feel all mushy inside, but I don't think it shows off the potential of the camera. Happy stuff thought. ;D

Re: 7meg Video from my 2nd day w/dvx100a :)

I am sure this vid doesnt show off the camera's finest, but I have never had a cam like this.. I was blown away by the quality.. I have been using lowend cams for last few years. I have not had anything i shot, look like this.
also i left it a factory settings and only changed the ND filter.

I mean that cam has ALOT of buttons :) and settings YIKES:)
where do I go how do I start.

I am hoping to post more vids so I can get constuctive critism on how to do it better. I want to do this at least part time like commercials training vids and such.. I got alot to learn. But I am having a blast doing it especially using this fine camera :)
and my kids are a bunch of hams. so that helps a little :)

I dunno -- I thought you had some pretty cool camera placement and moves in some of those shots -- like the little girl on the white tile floor.

Re: 7meg Video from my 2nd day w/dvx100a :)

i liked the parallel editing, cutting back between the roller skater in and out, and also beginning and ending with the sign.

the camera moves are cool, jus the thought of the spinny thingy with woman and skater is too long.

the potential of this camera is really awesome, considering research on its controls, color, exposure and framing.

looking nice
