7d versus fx1000

Yes the 7d is better in low light. But in normal lighting, let me just say I'm not selling my camcorder. The images are scaled, but in 1080 you can read the small print on the alcohol bottle on the image shot with the fx1000. It's blurred on the 7d.

I agree that my 7D is better for organic shapes, low light and DOF control rather than high resolution shots on my A1, but...

Your comparison doesn't quite hold up. You are zoomed out a tiny bit farther with the 7D. Look at the size of the black spray can for example. Rez charts require you be a set field of view because of that. They use bracket lines.

If you want to do a comparison this way you'd have to pick one object that fills the screen along the edge from top to bottom for both images and check to see if there are overscan issues. (One of the reasons that camera comparisons are so hard to do.)

If your images were shot the same the 7D would be a tiny bit clearer. Good effort though.

yeah I see that now. I went back an pixel peeped again and the 7d isn't so bad in terms of resolving, but even looking at the overall image as a whole I can see that the fx1000 is generally sharper.. I can try some charts later, but eh, there's been so many charts done that already show the 7d isn't the sharpest kid in the block.

oh yeah, the first image is the fx1000 and the second is the 7D.. forgot to add that up there.
