Hello!

I'm planning to buy the Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 VC for my a7s. Majority of 24-70 2.8 lenses have 82mm filter size but I have invested in many 77mm filters. It would be such a pain to replace them. Maybe someone have an similar experience with a step down rings and vignetting. Specially interested in Tamron 24-70 on a full frame camera with a step down ring for 77mm filter. My main filter would be Tiffen Vari ND.

Test for yourself to see the degree of vignetting on the wide side of the lens, and where it will disappear as you go tighter. It is doable, but you will loose your wide end with step rings and smaller filter.

I have that exact setup and i used a 77mm filter years ago - answer - not that bad from 30-70. The tamron itself has vignetting so its really nothing too bad. You will only see clearly see it from 24mm to 30mm.

Not an answer to your question but before buying a tamron 24-70 - know that it flares A LOT. Zoom lenses in general are not flare resistant but it can be really problematic at times if you dont have a matte box. The lens hood doesnt really do anything because its too small(bigger could create vignette at 24mm).
