75mm vs 100mm bowl tripod

I'm in the market for a tripod for my HPX300. My old setup was the XL2 on the Sachtler DV 4II tripod which worked great but that tripod is a little too lightweight for the 300. I've got several tripods in my radar but some are 75mm bowls and some are 100mm bowls. Does the 100mm bowl simply have more stability, etc. than the 75mm bowls?
Does anyone have a good, reasonably priced tripod they'd recommend for the 300? I'd like to spend around 2 grand (or slightly more.)
Thanks for any advice!

I had a Satchler DV6SB for our old 200 and when we got the 300 I looked around and finally chose the Cartoni Laser. It was around $2600. Very nice set of sticks with a 100mm bowl. The old DV6 will hold the weight we just get better stability and movement in the head with the bigger setup.

75mm works just fine for run'n gun where you need a light kit, as long as the head can support around 10kg. But usually the 75mm legs are not stiff enough. I've tried my DV6SB with my Hpx500 and the head is a bit to weak, but the biggest issue are the alu legs flex way to much to to good pan/tilts.

Cartoni, Libec and Manfortto carry 100mm kits in your price range, but i would go with Cartoni...yet to be impressed by any Libec or Manfrotto kit. Or look for used Sachtler DV8/10/12 or Vinten Vision.

I know when we where looking to buy our new sticks that Sachtler had changed their numbering system. The equivalent of a DV6SB is now the DV10 I think. I found Cartoni to be the best value and construction for the money.

In the new model scheme the FSB8T is the closest to the old 75mm DV6SB, the DV10 is a 12kg payload 100mm head. But a DV10 is a more ideal head from the Sachtler range than the FSB8 in my eyes. Ofcourse Sachtler(and other higher end manufacturers as well) come at a premium price....
